Each journal arrives wrapped in glassine paper with a printed welcome note and care instructions.

Journal care

Handle gently. The foil will lift even from light scratching and daily use. The fabric cover will soften and may fray at edges over time. Store away from rough surfaces if you want to slow foil wear. Or don’t. Let it age at its own pace.


The paper holds fountain pen ink without bleed. For best results, allow ink to dry fully before closing the journal.

Maker's Notes

After designing Daybreak for daily practice and mostly writing, I made Blue Hour as its counterpart. A journal for when thoughts resist structure. For sketches, tangents, ideas that need room to wander freely.


On the making

Named for that fleeting moment when day softens into night. Blue hour, the liminal stretch between states. We named this journal for that feeling – the spaciousness of blank pages.

The paper is 120gsm – chosen for versatility. Substantial enough for both drawing and writing, responsive to ink and mark making alike. A surface that supports experimentation without dictating outcome.

On aging

The crescent moon deboss took time to get right. Several manufacturers refused the design – precise foil alignment at this scale is difficult and rarely guaranteed. On the navy cover, slight misalignments are visually unforgiving. We chose to persist.

The white foil is delicate by nature and will lift and fade even with careful handling. This is part of the design.

Each journal is finished by hand. Subtle variations mark a process that values care over uniformity.

Included with the first 50 journals. Designed with four corner slots for the insert on impermanence and small clippings.
